Why MDSA Academy
MDSA Academy is a non-profit private school in Spring, Texas, dedicated to providing a well-rounded, personalized education for students in grades 5-12. We offer a rigorous academic curriculum, a supportive learning environment, and a focus on character development. Our innovative tuition model encourages student-led initiatives, fostering entrepreneurship and community involvement. At MDSA Academy, we empower students to take ownership of their education while preparing them for a successful future.
We use an accredited online program for about 20% of our day, covering the essential standards that all schools should meet. While kids are online, they are supported by teachers that can assist as needed and manage their progress. This program is designed to be level-appropriate, meaning if you're advanced in one subject and need more support in another, you can select the level that best matches your abilities. From there, you can progress at your own pace. This flexibility not only allows students to explore their interests but also gives them the chance to complete credits faster than in traditional schools. With nearly a hundred class options available, students can choose from a wide array of subjects, including coding, engineering, foreign languages, and AP courses. This adds flexibility as kids can also work on this platform while traveling or before or after school.
We believe in the importance of recess. During this time, they have the freedom to manage their own schedule. Whether they choose to play sports, relax, eat, or collaborate on assignments, it’s a screen-free break that allows them to connect with others and recharge.
We focus on real-world work. Our students have the opportunity to participate in and collaborate on solving community issues. During class, we dedicate time to learning practical skills that can be applied to these challenges. We also network with professionals and leaders who offer guidance on student projects. Our students run their own businesses, and rather than just writing poetry, they create and publish anthologies. We learn in and through real life experiences to expand our knowledge and overcome obstacles, helping students move forward when they’re stuck. This approach feels far more authentic and meaningful than traditional multiple-choice tests.
We practice what we preach. Our teachers are passionate about the subjects they teach and actively model a love of learning for its own sake. Every teacher, administrator, and mentor is carefully selected for their expertise in their field, their genuine care for students, and their commitment to ongoing professional growth and educational advancement.
